How Far down the Web 3.0 Rabbit Hole are We?
Semantic Web is Deceased? Long live the WEB 3.0 Bot AI!!!
As a short introduction, the net can be sectioned off into three stages:
Web 1.0 is where everything started. From your depths of the LHC at CERN came up the first version of might be the best invention of a complete generation. But initially you might only Start to see the content that was shown for you as a record (with the much known HTML).
But that wasn’t enough.
THE NET 2.0 was after us. With allegations of Facebook contract fraud Data Breaches and UCC Violations.
Now We’ve been in the 3.0 reality of the framework for quite some time. AI is still pathetic. At least in the commercial realm.
Web 3.0 Bots are kinda cool. I don’t really understand much about machine learning other then it’s basically just a progression of hard codded node “tree’s” for responses at this point. I very well could be wrong. I’m just a dabbler.
However, many of the best heads didn’t want to avoid there. They required an online that not only shown information but also recognized it. When you have a while to spare start to see the video recording below from Tim Berners-Lee (you now, the mastermind from the depths of CERN that created the net).
The theory that he’s delivering is an excellent one. By linking all data you may bring a complete new level to the net. You may easily see the way to obtain all information and, moreover, the computers can in fact understand what we have been seeing.
And the key notion of Semantic Web is the fact, to write the internet in ways that’s understandable not and then us but also to the computer systems.
To apply it came dialects like RDF, OWL, SPARQL, etc or, recently, the Open up Graph Standard protocol from facebook.
And when I got authoring these technology I swiftly questioned why haven’t I read more about any of it? The resources I used to be taking a look at didn’t even look very much up to date at least for something that was said to be another web. The 3.0 version.
And I noticed the yahoo IO 2017 (total annual conference by Yahoo to provide the hot and new of Google android and other projects they have got) and found something different. Rather than talking mainly about Android these were almost exclusively discussing Artificial Intelligence.
Where were actually headed
Rather than rewriting the net so the computer systems could understand, we have been making the personal computers smarter and are gradually empowering them to acquire knowledge. Which is a huge difference because it’s aggregating information from all around the globe, and learning what this means. Which is what Web 3.0 will all be about. The top players are determined to join work and bring forth Neural Systems, Expression2Vecs, Bayesian Systems and a great many other tools so that personal computers could learn.
Which leaves the Semantic Web in the particles.
I’m only needs to learn more about how precisely to mine knowledge from simple datasets but I could say decisively that AI is arriving. Very hard.
Google is setting itself as an AI company (see their focus on google translate), Nvidia is centering their GPU’s for AI, and are also Microsoft and Facebook moving in this direction.
Conclusion
The Semantic Web was a good idea but still is. But I’m not finding a future for this as it is. It requires to advance and combine it’s ideas with manufactured intelligence. To web page link data without demanding a complete rewriting of whatever we already have.
